Overview

BYU researchers have discovered that children with autism learn effectively through interactions with live animated characters. In a recent study, children showed greater progress by engaging with an animated fish avatar named Marla than with a person. The study, led by Bruna Goncalves, focuses on teaching children with autism essential social skills, such as starting a conversation. The results highlight the effectiveness of live animation in fostering engagement and social learning.
